BILYA TRAIL TOODYAY GUIDED 13 KM HIKE

We welcome you to enjoy a day in Toodyay as we explore the Bilya trail and hunt for orchids and everlastings of WA’s ‘Golden Outback’. This trail will follow the Avon River for a stunning 12 km return hike to explore the beautiful history of Toodyay.

The hike begins at Duidgee Park, named after the original Ballardong place name of the location. Over the decades the word Duigee has become “Toodyay”.  Adventure under bridges, along the river banks, through Sheoak and paperbark thicket, and along botanical interpretation trails.

We weave our way past the Toodyay Town Centre, and to the Redbanks Pool before coming to the John Masters Bird Hide. This pool provides a permanent refuge for waterbirds during the long dry summers. Spend a moment here to rest and enjoy the views before continuing on to the iconic Extracts Weir and Millard’s Pool before reaching our halfway point at the Nardie Cemetery, and then return on the same trail.
